Pakistan not be ignored at this critical juncture: Saudi ambassador

The Saudi ambassador to Pakistan has said that Saudi Arabia would not abandon its Pakistani brethren at this critical juncture of floods, and also announced a U$.107 million Saudi public donation ready for Pakistan.

Addressing a “meet the press,” press conference at the National Press Club here on Saturday, he said that his reason being here was to inform his Pakistani brethren about steps being taken by their Saudi brethren for flood victims.

He informed that the moment news of flood reached Saudi Arabia, a commission was formed on the directives of Saudi Arabian monarch, Shah Abdullah, and two field hospitals were dispatched to Pakistan, which were being assembled and to be made operational; one 200-bed in Thatta, while the other one was being decided.

Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Masood-ur-Rehman said that Saudi masses prayed for the well-being of their Pakistani brethren, and paid tributes to Saudi donations and care for Pakistan.

He informed that Saudi public had collected a record donation of U$.107 million, and a relief caravan of 100 trucks would soon be heading for a mandatory 2 million affecttees of the flood ravaged areas.

He also informed that a 100-ton cargo vessel would also be reaching within a few days time, which contains 90 ton of dates, and 50 tons of milk for children.

He said that Saudi ambassador and his embassy staff were on their toes, 24 hours a day for relief service, while Saudi public were also praying for the salvation of their Pakistani brothers in mosques of Saudi Arabia.
